A Bear-y Happy Birthday

Hello and Welcome!

CASology is celebrating their 5-year Anniversary with a great blog hop and, of course, a challenge to include balloons in a card. Here is my design:

I tried a lot of new products with this card. First, I used a gel plate and several new Distress Oxide inks to create the background. I just smooshed the inks directly into the gel plate, sprayed with water and pressed the edge of the paper into it.

Next, I used my new Hero Arts "Make A Wish Birthday" stamp and die set. The sentiment, party hat (colored with Zig markers), balloons and banners are all from this great set. I also added Hero Arts tiny clear gems.

Lastly, the adorable bear is from Ellen Hutson's "All Insides" stamp and die set. To finish off the card, B&W bakers twine was added as balloon strings.

The Eagle Has Landed

Hello and Welcome!

I was shocked and delighted when this eagle landed so close to me and right by our house. Plus I had my camera. Check out the shot!

This page was fun to do. I used Pebbles' "America The Beautiful" paper line. The chipboard pieces from AtoZ Scraplets and Scrapmatts were heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I was surprised at how well the etched details in the feathers held up. Gold foil was added to the outside of the page - easily done with a tape runner and Gina K foil sheets (no laminator needed!).

The flowers are diecuts by Poppy Stamps (Stitched Flower Trio). I used Quick Quotes' Slate PowderPuff Chalking inks to edge the papers and add shading around the design.
